HOLDING ON TO GOD OR GOD IS HOLDING YOU
I've asked myself many times before, "can I really withstand the testing of faith?"
“Reach out to God. Give Him your hands. Let Him hold you.”
On days when you feel like your feet are slipping and things around you are falling into different places, raise your hand all the more so that Jesus can have a better grip on you.
It's a common thing to hear the words 'hold on to God'. Even, I, myself repeatedly say this aloud whenever I'm speaking against my own battles. However, there was a day in my life when I had to pause and analyze deeply the meaning of these words. Then, a random question struck me. Am I really holding on to God or is it God who is holding me all along?
At the back of my mind, I pictured myself as a child walking side by side with my Father. If walking with Jesus is exactly like that, then I would rather say 'I want to reach out and give Him my hands, so He can have a better hold on me as we we walk'. If I will continue to believe that I'm the one holding on to Jesus, I'm afraid that a day would come, when I am unsteady and weak, I might let Him go or drop His hands.
I know myself that much to realize that I am incapable of standing still especially when things are rough. I've had my series of downfalls. I wasn't stranger to pain and deep wounds either. It is only through God's grace that's why I can constantly get back up.
Jesus is my only stability. He never loses His grip on me. I think I now understand even better what David is saying in Psalm 23. Indeed, we can walk out from darkest valleys unbothered, as long as we trust that God will never let us down.
Reach out to God. Give Him your hands. Let Him hold you.
Hey, brave heart!
